A little about Jörmungandr Austr.

Our aim as a Saxon and Viking Re-enactment Society is to entertain and educate our audience - entertain via our dynamic shows of Saxon and Viking combat, and educate with our camp life.

We are a friendly group of people with an interest in the Saxon and Viking Age.  We are always learning new things and adapting to them.

We are a politics-free Society, accepting of any race, gender and religion, so you will always feel accepted.

We are proud of our extensive Living History encampment within which we can engross ourselves in the roles of the period.  We have a lot of fun within our `family` and our pleasure in what we do, our enthusiasm, and our desire to spread our knowledge and interest allows for an enjoyable, immersive experience for our public.

We attend events in both the public and private sector. We are available for camp life and combat displays at fairs, fetes, schools (Please see our `School Visits` page), private parties and functions and for filming roles.

We hold our own charity event every year and have so far raised over £1100 for Waterloo Uncovered and Autism Anglia.

We have taken part in many other charity events

We can provide basic wooden props for stage or small film projects, and historical productions. Handmade to suit your requirements. Please see the `Other strings to our bow` page for examples. Please contact us with any enquiries.

Our Combatants are trained to a high degree of skill and safety. Led by Beowulf who brings the advantage of 1,000 years of experience in re-enactment, has appeared as a combat performer in the films Snow White and the Huntsman, Robin Hood, The Eagle, Faintheart and Horrible Histories.  He has choreographed fight scenes for local school productions and theatre groups.

Please see our `Other strings to our bow` page for pictures. Please contact us for further details.

All profits made go back into the club for the benefit of all members.

On behalf of the Alburgh PCC I would like to sincerely thank you and your Viking colleagues for coming along to our fete on Saturday. We appreciate the time and energy it all takes and it certainly helped to make our fete very successful. My son certainly enjoyed the axe throwing!
Ann Wrench, Alburgh PCC, July 2024

We had a fantastic visit from two members of the Jormungandr Reenactment group. Pete and Jo bought many Viking artefacts to share with the class, the children loved being able to try on the equipment and to have a go at the weaving. Pete shared his vast knowledge with us in a fun and interactive way. I can highly recommend them.
Ellingam VC Primary School, June 2024

"As always, lots of great information passed on.
I feel my head will explode with all the knowledge I`m gaining"

Chris, Member, October 2022

"I liked your inclusivity, by the way"
- David, BAJR-British Archaeological Jobs & Resources, May 2021

"I worked with Jormungandr Austr at a Viking event held at the Last Pub Standing in March 2019. They are a hardworking, professional outfit who gave a thrilling outdoor combat demonstration despite the cold and rain. Afterwards they mingled with the public inside and talked about their work and their gear. I look forward to working with them again."

- Dr. Adrian Marsden, Archaeologist. Referencing our work with him at his talk at The Last Pub Standing in 2019

"It was a great pleasure to have the Jörmungandr Austr group set up their Saxon and Viking camp in the school grounds for the school fete. Lots of parents and children were fascinated to find out about Saxon and Viking crafts, such as weaving and leatherwork making, and loved watching the re-enactments of fight sequences. The group enjoyed interacting with the pupils and passing on their knowledge about this period of history."

- Neil Henery, Headmaster of Cringleford CE VA Primary School with reference to our visit to the school fete May 2019
